Ditch Irrigation and Drought Conditions

Good Afternoon Glorious Town of Absarokee!

It looks like the Rosebud has come up enough to start flowing water through the town ditches. We are very very dry this year and I highly encourage you to use ditch water to irrigate your yards if at all possible.

We need to conserve water this year due to severe drought conditions. So help us reduce the stress on the town water system by using those ditches and personal irrigation wells if you can.

We are not to the point of rationing water yet but we need to be mindful.

I have already informed the Nemont / Finley crews installing fiber optics in the town to prepare to start pulling water from the Rosebud instead of the town system.

If you have issues with your ditch I am working to compile a list of the ditch controllers that we can distribute. Hopefully I will have it ready by next week. The Water Office does not control the ditches running through the town but I will help get you in touch with the people that do.
